Anaerobe: Introduction

A microorganism that can live and grow in the absence of oxygen is an anaerobe.


TYPES:

1. Facultative anaerobe: An organism that can live and grow with or without oxygen.

2. Obligatory anaerobe: An organism that can live and grow only in the absence of oxygen.


Anaerobic: Pertaining to anaerobe.

Anaerobic sis: 1. Life in an oxygen-free atmosphere.
2. Functioning of an organ or tissue in the absence of free oxygen.
